It's about our family!
That is our goal. But we consider our animals part of the family too. Our dogs have a special place in our hearts. Dixie our foundation female pulled my youngest child from the river when he fell in face first. Though he thought he was fine, she didn't and pulled him to 'safety' before letting him go. She then proceeded to give him a full on tongue bath to assure he was alive and well. It proved to be a preview of her motherly attentions. Dixie's last litter this spring was in the whelping box downstairs when we had a hot water pipe burst. The water sprayed directly into her whelping box. She managed to move all 9 pups to safety and again they all received her well known tongue bath. At only a week of age they survived what most mothers would have lost the complete litter. But Dixie's attention and devotion proved strong. She is a wonderful part of our family. Got to love our Alapaha Blue~Blood Bulldogs. The breed is naturally is a great companion breed as well as working breed. They protect what they deem as theirs, be that people or property. Not an aggressive breed but a protective breed.
